E-clair is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the E-clair mobile application and its associated backend infrastructure.
We operate under a strict data minimization standard. We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your personal data to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies.
Information We Collect and How We Use It
A. Identity and Authentication Data
When you register or log in using Google OAuth, we securely receive your primary email address, display name, and profile picture URL.
To provision your user account, manage secure login sessions, and prevent unauthorized registrations.
B. Learning Progress and App State Data
As you use the app, we store data tied to your account: saved podcast episodes, your notebook contents, and flagged vocabulary words.
To preserve your app state and synchronize your progress across devices.
C. Technical Connection Logs
Our infrastructure temporarily logs anonymized IP addresses, app version numbers, and API transmission metadata.
To debug system errors, optimize endpoint routing, and maintain platform stability.
Infrastructure and Third-Party Services
Your personal data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
Audio transcription: Audio files queued for transcription are routed to our private cloud infrastructure. Files are processed in temporary server memory and are not permanently logged or distributed.
Translation: When you request a translation, the text snippet is transmitted to our translation API partner (DeepL). They handle the query as a transient request and do not retain or use your text inputs to train models.
Podcast search: Search terms are passed as decoupled queries to external indexing services. E-clair never transmits your account details or personal metrics to these services.
Anonymized Caching
To reduce latency, E-clair may cache translation results in a shared dictionary layer. This cached data is immediately stripped of all user IDs, emails, timestamps, and personal identifiers. It cannot be reverse-engineered or linked back to any individual.
Your Data Rights and Deletion
We retain your data only for as long as your account remains active. You have full control:
Navigate to Settings → Delete Account to permanently delete your profile and all linked data.
Email us with the subject "Data Deletion Request". We will purge your data within 30 days.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes occur, the "Last Updated" date at the top will be adjusted. Continued use of the app following any update constitutes your acknowledgment of the revised policy.
